Beautiful and holds so well!! September 9, 2010 Doreen (Maryland) I purchased the Chocolate Brown cover for my 1st ever Kindle! I love it. It arrived before the Kindle of course and I couldn't wait to hook this baby into my Kindle! I love it. It's a lovely cover and fits the Kindle so well. No smell and it is NOT heavy! Glad I purchased this!
Didn't FIT! September 8, 2010 Cindy E I received the leather cover before I received my back ordered kindle. When I finally got my kindle, the cover doesn't fit! It advertises that it will fit the 6" latest 3G Generation Kindle but it sure doesn't. Has anyone bought a cover for their Kindle 3G Wireless Latest Generation that fits?
AS I RATED IT, IT'S OK September 8, 2010 NORTON C. BROWNE (SEATTLE, WA USA) The leather case is nice and seems well-designed and fits the Kindle like a glove and only drawback is the elastic band that should hold it closed. I received my Kindle case on September 3 and the band pulled out on September 8. It didn't break it just pulled out. I may be over generous giving it three stars but the rest of the case seems to be well constructed.
Great cover when paired with Belkin neoprene 2nd Gen cover September 8, 2010 Kindestod (New England) I really like this cover. It appears to be well made, and looks like it will offer the Kindle and its screen ample protection from a sharp blow to the screen when the cover is closed(in theory- I am not going to try this out on purpose). Unfortunatly this cover does nothing to keep dust or dirt from the Kindle. This worried me a bit but I had a solution close at hand. My Belkin Neoprene Kindle Case (Fits 6" Display, 2nd Generation Kindle) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] This Belkin case was great at keeping dust and dirt away from my 2nd Gen Kindle.
The 3rd gen Kindle in the Amazon made Kindle cover fits perfectly inside the Belkin case. Now I have the best of both products. The Belkin is best at keeping my Kindle dust free and providing some shock absorption. The leather cover is best at protecting the screen and looking good. When paired I feel confident my Kindle is fully protected for casual use and the unforseen traumas of a back pack taken on the trail or off.
Some of this review is taken directly form my review of the Belkin case. Check the link. I havent really talked about price in either of these reviews. Taken individually the cases are affordable(Amazon's case just barely so)
to buy them both may be cost prohibitive for a lot of people but I thought it was a good option to share with other Kindle owners.
Expensive necessity September 8, 2010 Diana Traikova 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got the cover before my Kindle. The burgundy color turned to be darker than I expected, but maybe it is a monitor settings issue. The stitches seemed to be nicely done, all edges were fine, no visible imperfections. The hooks have a funny form, but seem to be very solid.
Then my device arrived and I needed to push quite strong in order to get it fully attached. The instructions are clear, but at first a bit more pressure is necessary. Once finished, you can be sure that your Kindle will be stable and can not move out.
It is very pleasant to hold the cover with Kindle inside it. It feels like a real book! But only if you are right-handed it is easy to turn pages. Left-handed need to fold the left cover all the way back in order to get access to the buttons for changing pages.
The biggest disappointment for me was the elastic strip. I do not mind the design... But after only several times closing the cover and fixing it with the strip, it got dis-attached at the lower end. I pulled carefully on the upper end, there it seems to hold strong, but on the lower I could only sadly see the whole left where the strip was laying just few moments ago... Obviously it was not sewed properly. Because I waited for the delivery from USA to Germany, you can imagine the frustration.
Amazon offers replacement, but I need to start my trip tomorrow and I can not take the risk to carry my Kindle unprotected. The strip should keep the cover closed, when for example put in a bag or so. Still one should keep in mind, that sharp things (e.g. pen) can still scratch the device by accident, because the cover leaves three sides from the e-book reader more or less open. But to be fair, the cover makes an impression that it can absorb the most common shocks one such device would be usually exposed to.
Maybe it was just bad luck... But the strip and the price are the greatest weaknesses I can see in this leather cover.
